Top gainers and losers, Feb 12: TechM, Infosys, TCS plunge 6%, Bajaj Finance up 3%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in negative territory on Thursday, February 12, amid weak global cues and a sell-off in IT stocks.

On Wednesday, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) purchased stocks worth ₹125.36 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth ₹4,058.22 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.

The 30-share BSE SENSEX declined by 558.72 points or 0.66% to settle at 83,674.92, while the 50-share NSE NIFTY dipped 0.57% or 146.65 points to end at 25,807.20.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Shares of Tech Mahindra dragged down the NIFTY50 index, closing 6.40% lower.

It was followed by selling in Infosys (-5.97%), Tata Consultancy Services (-5.77%), HCL Technologies (-5.20%) and Wipro (-4.79%), which were among the top losers on Thursday.

Shares of Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro came under selling pressure as the NIFTY IT index ended in the red, down by 5.5% at 33,160, as investors turned cautious after Anthropic’s new AI products threatened the business models of established software, legal, and data companies.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance closed in the green, up by 3.31%. The other top gainers included Shriram Finance (2.48%), Eicher Motors (2.13%), ICICI Bank (1.84%), and Bharat Electronics (1.47%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge fell 0.47% or 283.70 points to close at 60,470.85 on February 12.

The index was weighed down by KPIT Technologies (-7.37%), Coforge (-6.61%), Oracle Financial Services Software (-6.35%), Tata Elxsi (-5.39%) and MphasiS (-4.93%), which were among the laggards.

On the flip side, Max Financial Services (4.83%), Housing & Urban Development Corporation (4.53%), Muthoot Finance (3.48%), Tube Investments of India (2.44%) and Ashok Leyland (2.25%) were among the top winners.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined by 0.64% or 110.90 points to close at 17,334.10.

The top losers included Zensar Technologies (-6.06%), Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (-6%), Newgen Software Technologies (-5.05%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (-4.85%) and Firstsource Solutions (-4.43%).

On the contrary, Hindustan Copper ended 3.59% higher, followed by Multi Commodity Exchange (2.92%), Navin Fluorine International (2.57%), Five-Star Business Finance (2.26%) and Manappuram Finance (1.92%), which were among the top losers.
