Top gainers and losers, Aug 14: Tata Motors PV falls 4%, Jio Financial down 3%, Asian Paints drops 2%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, tanked on Friday, August 14, as geopolitical uncertainties amid recent attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, along with foreign fund outflows, weighed on investor sentiment.

The SENSEX declined as much as 0.5% to hit an intraday low of 77,684.37. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 dropped as much as 0.4% to reach the session’s low of 24,296.80.

On August 14, the NIFTY 50 fell by 29.85 points or 0.12% to close at 24,366, while the SENSEX slumped by 70.71 points or 0.1% to end at 78,009.25.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Shares of Tata Motors PV dragged the NIFTY50 index, closing 4.32% lower, as investors focused on the company’s fall in overall consolidated profits, contracting margins, and subdued revenue gains in the Jaguar Land Rover segment during the April to June quarter earnings for the financial year 2026-27.

On August 13, Tata Motors PV recorded an 80% drop in its consolidated net profit to ₹775 crore in the June quarter results, in comparison to ₹3,934 crore in the same period a year earlier.

Although the company’s revenues in the period under review advanced 9%, the overall rise in the automaker’s raw material costs by 76% in the June quarter weighed down the earnings in the period under review.

It was followed by Jio Financial Services (-2.56%), Asian Paints (-2.15%), Hindalco Industries (-1.60%) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (-1.46%), which were among the top losers on Friday.

On the other hand, the top gainers include Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (3.85%), Bharti Airtel (2.73%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.53%), Adani Enterprises (2.37%) and ICICI Bank (0.73%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge fell by 0.53% or 339.40 points to close at 63,782.15 on August 14.

National Aluminum Company (-6.12%), Laurus Labs (-3.48%), L&T Finance (-2.87%), One 97 Communications (-2.82%), and Ashok Leyland (-2.60%).

Shares of Ashok Leyland fell as the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group recorded a 2.5% YoY increase in its standalone net profit to ₹609.11 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹593.73 crore in Q1 FY26. However, sequentially, the company’s profit declined 56.6% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) from ₹1,404.72 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26 (Q4 FY26).

Owing to rising material costs, its EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation), also known as operating profit, remained flat YoY at ₹970 crore for the reporting quarter. Its EBITDA margin contracted by 100 basis points (bps) YoY to 10.1% in Q1 FY27, from 11.1% in the June FY26 quarter.

On the flip side, the top winners comprised LG Electronics India (10%), Vodafone Idea (4.44%), Oracle Financial Services Software (3.57%), Jubilant Foodworks (2.55%) and Lenskart Solutions (2.53%).

The stock of LG Electronics India surged, a day after the firm reported its June quarter earnings. The household appliances manufacturing firm reported a net profit of ₹652 crore for Q1 FY27, marking a jump of 27% from ₹513 crore in the same period last year.

The company's revenue from operations grew 15% to ₹7,233 crore in the April-June quarter as compared to ₹6,263 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. This was driven by volume- and value-led growth.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined by 0.69% or 136.55 points to end at 19,738.55.

Its top losers included Natco Pharma, which ended 4.70% lower. Brainbees Solutions (-3.85%), Redington (-3.37%), Netweb Technologies (-3.36%) and NBCC (-3.17%) were among the other top losers.

On the contrary, its other top gainers were Devyani International (3.96%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (3.73%), BLS International Services (2.67%), Sarda Energy & Minerals (2.41%) and Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation (2.30%).
