The Indian equity benchmarks came off intraday highs in noon deals on Friday, August 28, owing to weakness in index heavyweights like ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti airtel, Ultratech Cement and Asian Paints. The SENSEX fell as much as 367 points from the day's highest level and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,076 after touching an intraday high of 24,188.

As of 12:01 pm, the SENSEX was up 79 points at 77,013 and NIFTY50 index declined 6 points to 24,084.

Here are shares witnessing heavier than usual trading activity:
Tejas Networks: Shares of the telecom equipment and services provider rose 13% to hit an intraday high of ₹577 after the company said that it received a letter of intent from Tata Consultancy Services Limited for supply of RAN equipment, accessories & installation materials for BSNL 4G mobile network for 18,685 sites, valued at ₹1,537 crore.

Trading volume in the stock jumped by 42.2 times to 3.29 crore shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) compared with an average volume of 7.81 lakh shares.

A total of 24.91 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 53,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra): Shares of the cellular and fixed line services provider climbed 10.84% to hit an intraday high of ₹40.46 after an NDTV Profit report suggested that the company has partnered with Tata Communications to hel India's smaller and medium businesses adopt artificial intelligence faster.

Trading volume in the stock surged by 30.4 times to 3.79 crore shares compared with an average volume of 12.48 lakh shares.

23.51 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 1.44 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Newgen Software: Shares of the information technology company rose as much as 6.75% to hit an intraday high of ₹558.35, mirroring gains in other IT shares.

Trading volume on the NSE jumped by 5.7 times to 31.79 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 5.57 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 2.25 lakh shares were traded compared with a two-week average of 45,000 shares.

Coal India: Shares of the state-run coal mining company advanced as much as 1.6% to hit an intraday high of ₹406 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped by 4.6 times to 3.35 crore shares compared with an average volume of 72.65 lakh shares.

As many as 2.61 crore shares were traded on the BSE as against an average of 3.54 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Ather Energy: Shares of the country's leading electric two-wheeler maker advanced as much as 8% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,616 after Hero MotoCorp, a promoter entity in the EV maker, announced after market hours on Thursday that the company’s board of directors, in its meeting, has approved the decision to purchase additional equity shares of Ather Energy from an existing shareholder.

Trading volume in the stock jumped 3.9 times to 90.99 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 23.54 lakh shares.

As many as 7.65 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 1.87 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
