TBO Tek, Chennai Petroleum shares surge amid spike in volumes; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks were trading sharply lower in noon deals on Wednesday, October 7, tracking a fall in rupee which depreciated by 35 paise to hit an intraday low of 96.77 per dollar after the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee unanimously decided to raise repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.5% and changed the policy stance to 'calibrated tightening'.

Rising crude prices in global markets also weighed on the investor sentiment, analysts noted.

As of 1:10 pm, the SENSEX was down 563 points at 72,505 and NIFTY50 index declined 219 points to 22,557.

Here are shares surging amid spike in trading activity:
TBO Tek: Shares of the tour an travel services provider rose as much as 4.63% to a hit a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,771 amid spike in trading volumes.

Trading volume jumped by 7.8 times to 17 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 2.18 lakh shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

As many as 2.99 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 13,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Chennai Petroleum Corporation: Shares of the oil refining company advanced 13% to an intraday high of ₹1,583 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped 6.2 times to 1.14 crore shares compared with an average volume of 18.37 lakh shares on the NSE.

On the BSE, 10 lakh shares were traded compared with its two-week average of 81,000 shares.

PVR Inox: Shares of the film production, distribution & exhibition company rose 9.75% to fresh 52-week high of ₹1,373.30 amid spike in volumes.

Trading volume on the NSE jumped 5.6 times to 27.73 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 4.92 lakh shares.

Bharti Hexacom: Shares of the telecom services provider advanced as much as 6% to ₹1,467 amid spike in volumes.

Trading volume jumped by 4.4 times to 10.72 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 2.45 lakh shares.

On the BSE, a total of 2.47 lakh shares changed hands as against its two-week average of 44,000 shares.

Kansai Nerolac: Shares of the paint maker advanced 3.1% to an intraday high of ₹189 amid spike in volumes.

Trading volume jumped by 3.5 times to 11.73 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 3.32 lakh shares on the NSE.
