NSE data showed that Swiggy shares dropped 5.8% to hit their intraday low of ₹174.50 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹185.25 apiece at the previous equity market close.

With trading activity surpassing 26.8 million equity shares across NSE and BSE combined, investors triggered the high-volume losses on October 30, after the block deal update during the morning window.

Although the online food delivery and quick commerce company posted an improvement in net losses on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the sequential losses expanded to ₹922 crore levels in the September quarter of FY27.

Key focus of investors remains on the future potential for a recovery as market experts predict the third quarter of FY27 to be better for the company’s quick commerce business, with management focusing on prioritising growth in the period.

₹982 crore block deal

Swiggy recorded a ₹981.79 crore block deal during the morning window on Friday, October 30, where 5,43,47,662 or more than 5.43 crore equity shares exchanged hands between an undisclosed buyer and seller before the opening bell, as per NSE block deals data.

Further details of the block deal, which include the names of the buyer and seller, along with the weighted average trading price, are scheduled to be disclosed by the exchanges after the market operating hours on October 30.

A block deal is a stock purchase or sale transaction that holds a minimum value of ₹10 crore per trade during a single trading session on the stock exchanges.

Although smaller retail investors are not able to take part in block deals, traders continue to monitor the transactions to keep track of institutional fund flows and positions for any major movement in buying or selling patterns in the market.

This comes around one week after the company declared its Q2 earnings for FY27 on October 22, 2026.

What does JPMorgan predict next?

US-based global investment firm JPMorgan analysts predict that Swiggy’s quick commerce (Instamart) business is expected to witness better sequential growth in the third quarter (Q3) of FY27, with management focusing on prioritising growth over margins.

“In quick commerce, management will prioritise growth over margins, within the Contribution Margin (CM) guidance of -1% to 0% over the next few quarters,” said JPMorgan analysts.

With Swiggy now focusing on becoming an Indian Owned and Controlled Company (IOCC), the experts predict that the margins will see the full benefit of its business model post the transition.

IOCC classification matters to companies as India’s foreign investment regulations impose tighter restrictions and scrutiny on companies owned by foreign investors in sectors like e-commerce and quick commerce.

Swiggy’s management is also expected to assess the “Toing” business over the next few quarters as the new standalone budget food delivery platform aims to expand the total addressable market (TAM) for the food delivery major.

“Toing has been able to expand the TAM for the Swiggy food delivery market, as 2 out of 3 Toing orders are from customers who are either new to Swiggy or were long-term dormant,” said JPMorgan analysts.

How have Swiggy shares performed?

NSE data showed that Swiggy's share price has lost more than 57% of its value in the last one-year period and has declined over 54% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis so far in 2026.

In the near term, the company’s stock has lost 29% in the last one-month period, but is trading 0.6% higher in the last five market session basis, as per the exchange data.

Shares of Swiggy surged to their 52-week high of ₹434 apiece on October 31, 2025, while the 52-week low was at ₹174.20 apiece on October 26, 2026.

The food delivery and quick commerce company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was trading around ₹48,857 crore as of the stock market session on Friday, October 30, 2026.
