Stock market crash: Dixon Tech, RVNL, Swiggy, DLF among 586 stocks that hit 52-week low as NIFTY50 closed below 24,500

NIFTY50 and SENSEX saw substantial fall for third straight trading session as both benchmark indice declined over 1.4% each on Wednesday, March 4. The stock market crash comes amid rising conflict between the US, Israel and Iran.

In last three trading session, NIFTY50 index has fallen nearly 1,000 points from 25,459 to 24,480. From Indian economic prospective, the key pain point is rising international crude oil prices as Brent Crude oil prices surged above $83 barrel due to esclating tension around the Strait of Hormuz, which handles roughly a fifth of global oil shipments. This has made investors turn cautious about domestic inflation, macroeconomic factors and near-term earnings visibility.

NIFTY50 closed is 385 points or 1.55% lower at 24,480, with a day low of 24,305. Meanwhile, BSE SENSEX declined 1122 points or 1.40% at 79,116. SENSEX hit a day low of 78,443 today.

Broader market indices like NIFTY Midcap100 (-2.1%) and NIFTY Smallcap100 (-2.1%) also saw a sharp fall today. More than 580 stocks hit their 52-week low today as investors did profit booking amid weak market sentiments.

The volatility index, or India VIX, is up 23.4% to 21.14. Expect for NIFTY IT (+0.1%) all other NIFTY sectoral indices closed in the red, with NIFTY Metal (-3.9%), NIFTY PSU Bank (-3.2%) and NIFTY Realty (-3.1%) among the top losers.
