The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, were trading flat during Wednesday’s afternoon session, dragged down by selling in IT shares and weak global cues.
The SENSEX declined by as much as 0.11% to an intra-day low of 84,572.85. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 touched the session’s high of 25,817.35.
At 12:32 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX fell by 169.96 points, or 0.20, to 84,496.32. NSE’s NIFTY50 was trading flat at 25,794.45, reflecting a 45.20 points, or 0.17% decline.
NIFTY50 index was weighed down by InterGlobe Aviation (-2.45%), Eternal (-2.19%), HDFC Bank (-0.81%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (-0.75%) and Tata Consultancy Services (-0.58%), which were among the top losers.
On the other hand, the top gainers included Eicher Motors (1.78%), Hindalco Industries (1.54%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.15%), HDFC Life Insurance Company (1.11%) and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.10%).
Shares of AU Small Finance Bank soared nearly 4% to hit a 52-week high of ₹1,007.25 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, December 10, as the government raised the foreign investment limit in the bank.
The Ministry of Finance has increased the foreign investment limit in the bank to the maximum permissible limit of 74% of the lender's paid-up capital, from the current 49%.
“We wish to inform you that the Bank has received approval from the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance today, i.e., on December 9, 2025, for an increase in the foreign investment limit in the Bank from 49% at present to the maximum permissible limit of 74% of the paid-up capital of the Bank,” AU Small Finance Bank said in a regulatory filing.
Hindustan Zinc stock advanced as much as 4.79% to an intra-day high of ₹515 per equity share, after silver prices hit a fresh record high.
Silver futures for March delivery surged as much as ₹2,735 or 1.45% to a fresh lifetime high of ₹1,90,799 per kilogram on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Wednesday, in line with global white metal prices, which crossed the $61 per ounce mark.
In the international market, Comex silver (for January delivery) climbed to an all-time high of $61.53 an ounce.
Shares of Kalpataru Projects International advanced as much as 2.65% to the session’s peak of ₹1,204 apiece, after the EPC company, along with its international subsidiaries, bagged new orders worth ₹2,003 crore.
The firm received orders in the buildings and factories (B&F) business in India, as well as orders in the power transmission & distribution (T&D) in India and overseas markets.
Shares of IndiGo parent InterGlobe Aviation declined as much as 2.2% to an intra-day low of ₹4,854 apiece on the NSE, a day after the aviation ministry ordered the carrier to reduce its flight schedule by 10%.
Meanwhile, the stock of SpiceJet rose as much as 4.93% to hit an intraday high of ₹36 on the BSE.
Integrated power company Tata Power stock gained as much as 1.63% to the day’s high of ₹382.40 per equity share, after it commissioned the 400 Kilovolt (kV) Koteshwar–Rishikesh transmission line.
The newly commissioned transmission line will enable the evacuation of 1,000 MW of hydropower from the Tehri–Koteshwar generation complex in Uttarakhand to six northern states and three union territories (UTs), the firm said in a regulatory filing dated December 9.
Shares of Graphite India soared as much as 2.02% to an intra-day high of ₹551.75 per unit.
This comes after the company, along with Kivoro, a corporate spin-off of Graphenea and a leading innovator in graphene-based industrial additives, signed an Exclusive Distribution and Commercial Partnership Agreement to bring Kivoro’s next-generation graphene-based heat transfer additive (HTA) technology to the Indian corrugated paperboard industry. Under the agreement, GIL becomes the exclusive distributor of Kivoro’s Heat Transfer Additive across India, focusing on deployment within the corrugated paperboard sector, it said in a filing on Tuesday.

Stock of specialty chemical manufacturer Anupam Rasayan gained 3.13% to hit a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,335.10 per equity share.
This comes after the company on Tuesday said it has agreed to acquire the entire stake of Jayhawk Fine Chemicals Corporation, a US-based specialty chemical company, for about $150 million.
The purchase consideration accounts for the payment against the equity value of Jayhawk and existing loans payable to the exiting shareholders, it said in a regulatory filing.
Accounting for about $16 million of cash and cash-like items for Jayhawk as of June, the purchase consideration translates to an enterprise value of about $134 million, the firm said.
