SBI Mutual Fund buys 3.5 crore shares of Asian Paints for ₹7,703.5 crore

Asian Paints block deal: Dalal Street witnessed a large transaction during the block deal window in the pre-open session on Thursday, June 12. As many as 3.5 crore shares, representing 3.64% equity of Asian Paints, changed hands during the period.

Later, exchange filing showed that Reliance Industries (RIL), through its subsidiary, Siddhant Commercials Private Limited, sold 3.5 crore shares at ₹2,201 apiece.

The evening block deal data on the NSE further showed that SBI Mutual Fund bought the shares at the same price. The deal size stands at ₹7,703.5 crore.

After the stake sale, RIL arm Siddhant Commercials' shareholding in Asian Paints has fallen to 1.26% from 4.90%.

On the other hand, SBI Mutual Fund's shareholding in Asian Paints has increased to 5.15% from 1.51% earlier.

Shares of the company ended 0.73% higher at ₹2,225 apiece on the NSE.

In March 2025, Asian Paints said it had completed the divestment of its Indonesian operations to Singapore-based subsidiary of Omega Property Investments Pty Ltd, Australia, for a consideration of SGD 6.8 million (₹44 crore).

Asian Paints Q4 FY25 Results

Asian Paints reported a 45% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹700.83 crore for the March quarter (Q4 FY25) due to muted demand and increased competitive intensity in the market.

The company had logged a net profit of ₹1,275.30 crore in the January-March period last year, according to a regulatory filing by Asian Paints.

Its revenue from operations slipped 4.25% to ₹8,358.91 crore in the March 2025 quarter. It was ₹8,730.76 crore in the year-ago period.

During the quarter, "muted demand conditions and consumer sentiment coupled with downtrading and increased competitive intensity impacted revenue", Asian Paints said in its earnings statement.

Asian Paints' total expenses fell marginally year-on-year to ₹7,276.60 crore in the March quarter.

Its total income, including revenue from other sources, declined 5.14% to ₹8,458.76 crore in the March 2025 quarter.
