Top gainers & losers, Aug 6: Reliance Industries, SBI jump 3%, BEL jump over 2%, Power Grid falls 4%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the green on Thursday, August 6, amid buying in defence and PSU banking stocks.

Furthermore, investor sentiment also improved amid easing geopolitical tensions in West Asia after Iran and Oman reached an understanding over a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

The SENSEX rallied as much as 0.4% to hit an intraday high of 78,926.11, while the NIFTY50 gained as much as 0.2% to touch the session’s peak of 24,677.05.

On August 6, the SENSEX closed 373.76 points or 0.48% higher at 78,954.76. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 advanced by 11.35 points or 0.05% to end at 24,636.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY50 pack was led by Reliance Industries (3.52%), State Bank of India (2.84%), Bharat Electronics (2.36%), Eternal (1.90%), and Titan Company (1.74%), which were among the other top gainers.

On the other hand, the other top losers included Power Grid Corporation (-3.90%), Tata Steel (-1.91%), JSW Steel (-1.66%), Tata Consultancy Services (-1.66%) and Bajaj Auto (-1.53%).

Shares of Power Grid Corporation fell as investors focused on the flat earnings performance of the company in the April to June quarter results for the financial year 2026-27.

Power Grid Corp recorded a 0.8% decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹3,598 crore for the April to June quarter of the financial year 2026-27, in comparison to ₹3,631 crore in the same period a year earlier.

Amid the 2.6% flat Q1 revenue growth, the company's earnings were also impacted due to higher tax expenses in the period under review.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NSE Midcap gauge closed at 63,326.80, down by 278.45 points or 0.44% on August 6.

The top losers were Blue Star (-5.65%), BSE (-2.82%), Jubilant Foodworks (-2.47%), Hero MotoCorp (-2.45%), and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (-2.45%).

The stock of Blue Star declined as the air conditioning and commercial refrigeration company reported a 15.26% decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹102.5 crore for the June quarter of FY27.

On the flipside, Kalyan Jewellers India (5%), Bharat Dynamics (4.76%), Cochin Shipyard (4.56%), AU Small Finance Bank (3.45%) and Indian Bank (2.80%) were among the top winners.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap index increased by 94.55 points or 0.48% to close at 19,878.25.

Its top gainers included Navin Fluorine International, which closed 13.27%. It also hit its all-time high of ₹8,775.50 apiece, after the company reported a robust first quarter of the current fiscal year.

It was followed by Neuland Laboratories (8.24%), Tata Technologies (6.71%), Pine Labs (6.%) and Triveni Turbine (4.03%).

Shares of Neuland Lab hit a record high on August 6, as its net profit in the April-June period jumped over 10-fold or 962% to ₹148 crore from ₹14 crore in the same period last year.

Conversely, Firstsource Solutions (-13.09%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (-6%), the Great Eastern Shipping Company (-3.61%), Sona BLW Precision Forgings (-2.77%) and Star Health and Allied Insurance Company (-2.62%) were among its top losers.

The stock of Firstsource Solutions declined after reporting a 2% YoY fall in its consolidated net profit to ₹165.91 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹169.33 crore in the June quarter of FY26. Sequentially, the company saw its profit decline 19% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) from ₹205.24 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26 (Q4 FY26).
