The Indian equity benchmarks were trading with a negative bias in noon deals on Thursday, April 23, as investor sentiment was dented by surging crude oil prices and a weak rupee against the US dollar. The SENSEX fell as much as 866 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,135 dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, Infosys and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

As of 12:42 pm, the SENSEX was down 715 points at 77,801 and NIFTY50 index dropped 171 points to 24,207.

Here are stocks witnessing heavier than usual trading volumes:
Godrej Industries: Shares of Godrej Industries surged as much as 10.63% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,043.40 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume in the stock jumped by 45 times to 24.28 lakh shares compared with an average trading volume of 54,479 shares.

On the BSE, as many as 1.43 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 8,764 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Oracle Financial Services Software: Shares of the software services company jumped as much as 9.4% to hit an intraday high of ₹8,887.50 after its net profit in January-March quarter jumped 31% to ₹842 crore from ₹644 crore in the same period last year. For financial year 2025-26, OFSS' net profit advanced 11% to ₹2,639 crore compared with ₹2,380 crore in the previous financial year.

OFSS' revenue from operation in fourth quarter of financial year 2025-26 advanced 20% to ₹2,065 crore from ₹1,716 crore in the year-ago period.

The stock was witnessing spurt in volumes as trading volume surged seven times to 18.69 lakh shares compared with an average trading volume of 2.62 lakh shares.

Clean Science and Technology: The stock surged as much as 10% to an intraday high of ₹842.90 as trading volumes witnessed a sharp uptick.

Trading volume spiked by 30 times to 71.19 lakh shares compared with an average of 2.36 lakh shares.

On the BSE, as many as 3.55 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 13,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Piramal Pharma: Shares of the drug maker jumped as much as 9.55% to touch an intraday high of ₹168.5 amis spike in trading activity.

Trading volume on NSE spiked by 15 times to 3.73 crore shares compared with an average trading volume of 25.36 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 12 lakh shares were traded compared with two-week average trading volume of 1.43 lakh shares.

Tata Communications: Shares of the telecom company climbed 5.2% to touch high of ₹1,604 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped five times to 19.56 lakh shares compared with an average trading volume of 3.95 lakh shares.
