However, Adani Green, ACME Solar and KPI Green Energy stocks traded in the green.
The end of the one-month lock-in period freed up 18.3 crore shares for trading.
A one-month share lock-in period is a timeframe during which certain shareholders are not allowed to sell or transfer their shares. After the lock-in period ends, shareholders can sell their equity shares. This temporarily surges selling pressure, which causes a decline in stock price.
The ₹10,000 crore NTPC Green IPO was subscribed 2.55 times. The stock was listed on the NSE at ₹111.5 apiece (3.24% premium) over the issue price of ₹108 per share. It hit an all-time high of ₹155.35 apiece on December 4.
On Monday, the company's Board had approved three investment proposals worth ₹850 crore for setting up electrolyser and storage cell manufacturing facilities.
The board also approved the appointment of Amit Paithanka, CEO, as the Company's Additional Director, designated as a Full-Time Director.
The market capitalisation of the company stood at ₹1,69,142.99 crore, while the free-float m-cap was ₹38,425.23 crore.
In an exchange filing on December 20, the company informed that the NSE and the BSE imposed penalties of ₹10,000 each for delay in disclosure of related party transactions.

Shares of ACME Solar Holdings ended 1.67% higher at ₹240.35 apiece on the NSE.
On December 19, ACME Solar Holdings, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, commissioned a total capacity of 1,023.05 MW in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
