MRF de-thrones Elcid to once again wear the “priciest stock” crown; Check list

Shares of MRF rose meteorically to close at an astonishing ₹1.38 lakh apiece, narrowly slipping past Elcid Investment to once again hold the title of the “highest-priced stock in India”. Elcid dropped to the second rank on the list, as its stock settled at ₹1.29 lakh on the BSE on June 3.

On October 29, 2024, Elcid had been the cause of investors’ astonishment as the small-cap share skyrocketed from ₹3.53 to ₹2.36 lakh in a single day, jumping 66.95 lakh percent. At the time, it had overtaken MRF to become the costliest share on the Indian stock market.

Trailing far behind the two market giants is Page Industries, which closed at ₹45,765 apiece on Tuesday. Jockey distributor Page Industries ranks fourth, settling at ₹45,765, followed by the Yamuna Syndicate and HoneyWell Auto.

MRF stock performance

MRF shares settled 1.9% lower on Tuesday and lost 3.34% over the last week. However, it gained 3.24% in May and 22.54% over two months. It further surged 5.7% on a year-to-date basis.

The firm had hit its 52-week high of ₹1.47 lakh on May 26, 2025, and a low of ₹1.02 lakh on March 5, 2025.

MRF’s March quarter performance

In the March FY25 quarter, MRF reported a 33% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated net profit to ₹492.74 crore, compared to ₹370.52 crore in the year-ago period.

Madras Rubber Factory’s (MRF) revenue from operations stood at ₹7,074.82 crore in the quarter under review, jumping 11.4% YoY from ₹6,349.36 crore in Q4 FY24.

In Q4 FY25, its operational performance also improved, with EBITDA increasing by 17.8% YoY to ₹1,043 crore, as against ₹885 crore in the corresponding period last year. Its margin was at 15% as compared to 14.3%.
