The Indian stock market closed in the green for the seventh consecutive session on Thursday, September 11, driven by strong gains in oil and gas stocks, marking its longest winning streak in five months.

According to exchange data, on Wednesday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹115.69 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought equities worth ₹5,004.29 crore on a net basis.
Globally, almost all indices in Asia closed with gains on Thursday as investors tracked the rally in the US stocks. Japan’s Nikkei index, however, touched new record highs amid political turmoil. Investors are waiting for the US consumer inflation data for further cues.
Japan's Nikkei was up 1.02%, South Korea's KOSPI rose 0.89%, and the Shanghai Composite also gained 1.63%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.29%.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq settled at record highs on Wednesday, backed by a strong rally in Oracle. The S&P 500 rose 0.30% to end at its second straight record closing high of 6,532.04.
The Nasdaq inched up by 0.03% to 21,886.06 points—its third consecutive record-high close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, however, slipped 0.48% to 45,490.92.
As many as 3,150 stocks traded on the NSE on Thursday. Out of this, 1,541 declined and 1,516 stocks advanced, while 93 scrips remained unchanged.
A total of 53 stocks hit their 52-week highs, while 26 stocks touched their one-year lows. Besides, 87 stocks hit their upper circuit limits, and 58 touched their lower circuit bands on Thursday.
NSE-listed firms' market capitalisation stood at ₹453.97 lakh crore at the end of the session.
India VIX, the volatility gauge, stood at 10.36 levels, declining 1.68%.

Nifty Oil & Gas led sectoral gains, rising 1.10%, followed by Nifty Media (1.02%), Nifty PSU Bank (0.74%), Nifty Pharma (0.46%), and Nifty Metal (0.34%). Meanwhile, Nifty IT declined 0.50% amid profit booking after its strong rally. Nifty Auto (-0.33%) and Nifty Consumer Durables (-0.29%) also saw losses.
Adani Enterprises was the top contributor, gaining 2.9%, followed by Shriram Finance (2.55%), NTPC (1.8%), Axis Bank (1.64%) and Eternal (1.22%).
On the flip side, Bajaj Auto took the lead among losers, falling 1.35%. Infosys (-1.33%), Eicher Motors (-1.14%), Titan (-1.12%) and SBI Life Insurance (-1.1%) were the other laggards on the 50-share index.
