NSE data showed that Hindustan Copper share price surged 7.36% to its intraday high of ₹568 apiece on Monday’s market, in comparison to ₹529.05 apiece at the previous equity market close.

After touching the day’s high, the company's shares retracted some of their gains, trading 6.9% higher at ₹566 apiece during the trading session on August 17.

Why are Hindustan Copper shares rising today?

Hindustan Copper shares were rising on Monday’s market as investors focused on the increase in global copper prices due to the decline in inventories on the London Metal Exchange.

Higher copper prices are beneficial for metal mining companies, which enjoy their margin benefit directly due to elevated commodity prices in the market.

At those higher prices, companies like Hindustan Copper are able to sell their produced goods or minerals at an elevated rate, which in turn aids the overall revenue growth in a particular period under review.

According to CME Group’s data, copper futures prices for the September 2026 contract were trading around 1.41% higher at $6.7065 per 25,000 pounds, in comparison to $6.61 per 25,000 pounds at the previous market close.

The exchange data showed that the key mineral copper prices have surged over 1% in the last five market sessions, and around 6.7% in the last one-month period. In the last three months, copper prices have risen 6.2% and have been trading over 17% higher in the past six months.

The latest report from Shanghai Metal Market suggests that concerns remain over the immediate availability of copper metal in the market amid the tightening market structure and prolonged decline in inventories on the London Metal Exchange.

The report also highlights that the copper supply and demand have been fragmented globally at a time when investors expect a potential 15-30% import tariff hike on refined copper amid tighter supply availability from China.

Copper prices are likely to rise further if supply concerns continue to remain persistent, further impacting the demand-supply equation.

Q1 earnings snapshot

Hindustan Copper benefited from the surge in overall copper prices in the global market, which in turn boosted the revenues for the April to June quarter (Q1) of the financial year 2026-27.
