At 01:08 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 79,241.64, down 559.79 points, or 0.70%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index was trading at 24,039.35, down 207.35 points, or 0.86%.

Here is a list of stocks that are buzzing in today's trade.
Axis Bank, SBI, and other banking stocks: Banking stocks took a heavy beating on Friday, April 25, led by a sell-off in Axis Bank, SBI, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and HDFC Bank.

Axis Bank shares were trading nearly 4.5% lower at ₹1,154.05 apiece on the BSE.

The private sector lender on Thursday reported a marginal decline in net profit to ₹7,117.5 crore in the March quarter.

The bank had reported a net profit of ₹7,129.67 crore in the March quarter of the preceding fiscal year.

Total income rose to ₹38,022 crore in the March quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year from ₹35,990 crore in the year-ago period.

The BSE BANKEX index was trading at 61,988.80, down 1,017.96 points, or 1.62%.

L&T Tech: Shares of L&T Technology Services were trading at ₹4,229.30, down 250.55 points, or 5.59%. The stock slipped after the company reported its March quarter numbers.

L&T Technology Services on Thursday posted a 9% fall in its net profit to ₹311 crore for the January-March quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (Q4 FY25) as against the ₹341 crore posted in the same period last year.

The net profit fell 3.5% from ₹322.4 crore in Q3 FY25.

Revenue from operations of the company jumped 17.5% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹2,982.4 crore in the reporting quarter. On a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis, revenue increased by 12.4% as compared to ₹2,653 crore in the December quarter.

SBI Life: Shares of SBI Life Insurance Company surged as much as 9.56% to ₹1,762 apiece on the NSE on Friday, April 25, a day after the company reported its March quarter (Q4 FY25) results.

The company on Thursday reported a marginal increase in profit after tax (PAT) to ₹813.5 crore for the three months ending March 2025.

The insurer had posted a PAT of ₹811 crore in the same quarter of the preceding fiscal year.

Last seen, the stock was trading around 5% higher at ₹1,687.00 on the NSE.

Cochin Shipyard, HAL, and other defence stocks: Shares of defence equipment manufacturers and allied companies saw a sharp fall in the trade today.

The NIFTY INDIA DEFENCE index was trading 2.71% lower at 6,644.85 levels. All 18 constituents were trading in the red.

The biggest losers were Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) – down over 6% – and Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing – down over 5% at ₹931.20.

Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) was down 1.7% at ₹4,227.60, while Cochin Shipyard Ltd was trading over 3% lower at ₹1,430.20.

Mphasis: Shares of Cyient Ltd, the Hyderabad-based information technology (IT) services company, fell as much as 9.46% to hit an intraday low of ₹1,125.40 on the BSE a day after it reported March quarter earnings. Cyient, in the quarter ending March 2025, reported that its consolidated net profit fell 10% to ₹170 crore from ₹189 crore in the same period last year.
Cyient's revenue from contracts with customers rose 2.59% to ₹1,909 crore at the end of the March quarter, as against ₹1,861 crore in the year-ago period. READ MORE

Last seen, the stock was trading at ₹1,172.70, down 5.64% on the NSE.

Major IT stocks: The NIFTY IT index was trading in the green, up 0.72% at 35,560.60 levels.

Infosys shares were trading over 1% higher at ₹1,486.50 apiece on the NSE, while TCS was up at ₹3,435.40, up 1%.

Reliance Industries: The stock was trading flat at ₹1,300.80 on the NSE ahead of the company's March quarter results announcement.
Jai Balaji Industries: Shares of Jai Balaji Industries were trading 6% lower at ₹121.55 apiece on the NSE. The company is primarily focused on manufacturing iron and steel products.
