The Indian equity benchmarks fell for fourth session in a row on Monday dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like Infosys, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finance and Kotak Mahindra Bank. The SENSEX fell as much as 490 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,001.95. The SENSEX ended 247 points lower at 82,253 and NIFTY50 index slipped 68 points to close at 25,082.

On the other hand, Eternal was top gainer in the NIFTY40 index, the stock rose 2.9% to close at ₹271 on the back of heavy trading volumes. As many as 5.01 crore shares changed hands against average trading volume of 1.91 crore shares.
Titan (1.2%), HDFC Life (1.05%), ONGC (0.99%) and Grasim Industries (0.98%) were also among the gainers.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index rose 0.7% or 410 points to close at 59,053. As many as 66 shares ended higher while 34 closed lower.
Ola Electric was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock surged 20% to close at ₹47.66 despite its loss widened in first quarter of the current financial year. Ola Electric shares rose as much as 17.71% to hit an intraday high of ₹46.85 on the National Stock Exchange.
Ola Electric shares surged after the company said that its auto gross margins improved massively to 25.6% in June quarter as against 13.8% in the year-ago period.
"Ola Electric’s Q1 FY26 performance demonstrated strong financial discipline and execution. The auto segment EBITDA improved sharply to -11.6%, compared to -90.6% in Q4 FY25, with June marking the first EBITDA-positive month for the auto business. The consolidated EBITDA also saw a substantial recovery to -28.6% from the previous quarter," the company said in a press release.
Vodafone Idea (6.83%), Mankind Pharma (4.72%), BSE (4.07%) and Oil India (3.17%) were also among the gainers.
On the flipside, Cochin Shipyard was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 2.71% to close at ₹1,929. AU Small Finance Bank (-2%), Mazagon Dock (-1.96%), NTPC Green (-1.93%) and Bharat Dynamics (-1.86%) were also among the laggards.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index outperformed mid and larger peers as the index rose 1.02% or 192 points to close at 18,955. As many as 67 shares ended higher while 33 closed lower.
Neuland Laboratories was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 20% to close at ₹14,761 on the back of higher than usual trading volumes. As many 12.12 lakh shares changed hands compared with average trading volume of 67,077 shares.
Godfrey Philips (8.14%), Piramal Enterprises (6.37%), Indiamart (5.28%) and Laurus Labs (4.53%) were also among the gainers.
On the contrary, Garden Reach Shipbuilders (-4.84%), Navin Fluorine (-2.25%), Zen Technologies (-2.16%), RK Forgings (-1.96%) and PCBL (-1.88%) were among losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
