The Indian equity benchmarks extended losses in afternoon deals on Tuesday, June 23, mirroring weak trend in other Asian markets as investors rushed to book profits in 0recently outperforming tech and artificial intelligence shares.

The SENSEX fell as much as 722 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 23,983 dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Infosys, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, State Bank of India and Tata Steel.

As of 1:23 pm, the SENSEX was down 630 points at 76,463 and NIFTY50 index dropped 214 points to 23,890.

Here are stocks witnessing heavier than usual trading volumes:
Cohance Lifesciences: Shares of the drugmaker rose as much as 20% to hit an intraday high of ₹487.50 mirroring gains in other pharma shares.

The stock witnessed heavier than usual trading activity as volume jumped by 32 times to 2.13 crore shares compared with an average volume of 6.59 lakh shares.

On the BSE, as many as 13,67 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 69,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Piramal Pharma: Shares of the Mumbai-based drugmaker advanced as much as 10.55% to hit an intraday high of ₹175.40 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped by 25 times to 7.82 crore shares compared with an average volume of 31.33 lakh shares.

On the BSE, a total of 37.57 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 6 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Kirloskar Oil Engines: Shares of the non-automotive diesel engine maker gained for a second straight session and rose as much as 14% to touch a fresh 52-week high of ₹2,720.35 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped by 17 times to 1.07 crore shares compared with an average volume of 6.4 lakh shares.

Neuland Laboratories: Shares of the Hyderabad-based drugmaker advanced as much as 7% to hit an intraday high of ₹18,411 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped by six times to 1.57 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 25,972 shares.

Syrma SGS Technology: Shares of the industrial products maker advanced as much as 6.43% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,421.

Trading volume jumped 3.5 times to 33.12 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 9.35 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 1.81 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 96,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
