Cipla, Vardhaman Textiles and Siemens Energy India shares cross 200 EMA despite weak market sentiment

The NIFTY50 index traded over 250 points, or 1%, lower on Thursday afternoon. Similarly, the SENSEX tanked over 810 points, or 1.08%, on its weekly expiry day. However, despite the broader weakness, a few stocks managed to show strong gains and surged above their long-term averages.

Buzzing stocks, NIFTY50, SENSEX

NIFTY50 plunged over 300 points and SENSEX tanks 800 points on Thursday.

Indian equity markets are once again near their pivotal support levels on Thursday as rising global Treasury yields surged to multi-decade high levels, adding worries for global investors. The NIFTY50 index traded over 250 points, or 1%, lower on Thursday afternoon. Similarly, the SENSEX tanked over 810 points, or 1.08%, on its weekly expiry day.

Meanwhile, shares of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) jumped almost 5% as investor optimism rose post its flat listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The IPO secured bumper response from institutional investors, who subscribed to the issue over 12.6x. The company now found itself in the top 10 most valued firms by market capitalisation on the debut day itself. The shares now traded 3% higher at ₹1,839 apiece, with a market capitalisation of ₹ 4.56 lakh crore.

On the other hand, the shares of insurers and intermediary companies faced heavy selling pressure since morning as IRDAI announced its consultation paper on reforming the economics of distribution. The consultation paper highlighted that the distribution costs or commissions rose over 4x between 2020 and 2025, faster than the premium growth, underscoring the malpractices adopted by the distributors. The regulator now aims to reduce the commissions significantly in order to bring transparency and accountability.

Consequently, shares of major distributors like Policybazaar and Turtlemint plunged as much as 20% on Thursday. While shares of Insurer companies HDFC Life, SBI Life Insurance, and ICICI Prudential Insurance also plunged as much as 5%.

However, despite the broader weakness few stocks managed to show strong gains and surged above their long-term averages. Here are top three stocks that crossed their 200 EMA levels on Thursday.

Cipla

Shares of Pharmaceutical player, Cipla jumped over 5% on Thursday as investors favoured defensive bets amid weak market sentiment. The shares made intraday high ₹1,419 apiece on the NSE, crossing their 200-EMA of ₹1,412 level in the intraday session.

Siemens Energy India

Shares of Siemens Energy India jumped over 2% on Thursday hitting intraday high of ₹3,281 apiece, also crossing the 200-EMA leve of ₹3,236. The shares have rallied 26.5% in 2026 on a YTD basis.

Vardhaman Textiles

Shares of Vardhaman Textiles soared over 6% in the intraday session on Thursday, crossing the 200 EMA levels of ₹557 apiece on the NSE. On a YTD basis, shares have rallied over 29% in 2026.
