The Indian equity benchmarks extended gains in afternoon deals on Tuesday, October 6, as sentiment improved after crude oil prices in global markets dropped below $100 per barrel.

The SENSEX rose as much as 601 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 22,732 led by strong gains in index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Trent, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever.

As of 2:15 pm, the SENSEX was up 570 points at 72,952 and NIFTY50 index advanced 166 points to 22,720.

Here are shares witnessing heavier than usual trading activity:
Cello World: Shares of the houseware products maker rose as much as 14% to an intraday high of ₹388 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped by 22 times to 81.7 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 3.65 lakh shares on the National Stock Exchange.

As many as 7.94 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 36,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Trent: Shares of the Tata Group-owned retail chain operator rose as much as 13% to an intraday high of ₹2,914.55 after the company reported a strong business update for the September quarter (Q2 FY27).

In its provisional business update shared on Monday, the company said its standalone revenue from operations, excluding GST, rose 23% year-on-year to ₹5,788 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹4,724 crore a year ago. Revenue from merchandise sales, excluding other operating income, also grew 23% during the quarter.

Trading volume in the stock jumped 5.8 times to 54 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 9.34 lakh shares.

HEG Advanced Materials: Shares of the graphite electrodes maker rose 9.42% to an intraday high of ₹256 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume on the NSE jumped 41.44 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 9.8 lakh shares.

A total of 3.5 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 1.39 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Honasa Consumer: Shares of the operator of Mamaearth advanced as much as 11.6% to an intraday high of ₹492.90 after the company said that it expects another robust quarter for the company. The company expects NSV growth in early thirties underpinned by broad-based traction in our focus categories, across brands.

The company said that Mamaearth sustained its growth momentum over the last few quarters and is expected to deliver high-teens year-on-year (YoY) growth during the quarter, supported by rising brand affinity and a widening offline footprint.

Trading volume jumped four times to 2.15 crore shares compared with an average volume of 53.34 lakh shares.

Urban Company: Shares of the e-commerce company advanced as much as 8.86% to an intraday high of ₹173.80 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped 3.9 times to 1.44 crore shares compared with an average volume of 37 lakh shares.
