BHEL secures order for eight Gas Turbine Generator packages; shares trade flat

Shares of BHEL hovered around neutral level on Wednesday afternoon as company secured major order from Danote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Enterprise, Nigeria. The shares traded at ₹403 apiece on the NSE at 1:30 pm.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has secured order for supply & supervision of erection & commissioning of eight Gas Turbine Generator packages. The scope of work includes the manufacture and supply of eight Gas Turbine Generator packages along with supervision of erection and commissioning activities at site. The equipment shall be manufactured by the company's facilities at Hyderabad & Bengaluru. The company has secured this order from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise, Nigeria - part of the Dangote Group.

This order is largest-ever single order secured by the company on Supply & Supervision basis for Gas Turbine Generator packages in terms of both quantity and value. This order will further enhance the company’s visibility worldwide and demonstrate its capabilities as a Global Engineering Enterprise.

The company has established a strong presence across Africa through the successful execution of power sector projects in countries such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, Senegal & Sudan besides supplying a wide range of products and equipment to several other African nations. The company has previously executed an order for the supply and supervision of erection & commissioning of 26 MW Gas Turbine Generator package to Government of Cross River State, Nigeria.

As of Q1FY27, company’s total order book stood at ₹2.60 lakh crore, with 81% of the orders from power segment, 17% from industry and remaining from exports. In Q1FY27, company’s revenue jumped 40% YoY to ₹7,698 crore as compared to ₹5,487 crore in Q1FY26.The company posted a turnaround at operating level by posting EBITDA profit of ₹735 crore vs EBITDA loss of ₹352 crore in the previous year same quarter. Similarly, at the bottomline level, the company posted a turnaround with net profit of ₹382 crore as compared to ₹455 crore in the same period last year.

Bharat Heavy Electricals is an Indian central public sector undertaking and the largest government-owned power generation equipment manufacture.
