Centre lifts curbs on wheat exports; flour and related products also allowed abroad

The government on Monday allowed exports of wheat, including durum wheat, as well as wheat flour and related products, reversing the export ban on these items.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), in two separate notifications, revised the export policy of wheat and wheat flour from "Prohibited" to "Free".

Exports of durum wheat and wheat have been allowed freely with immediate effect.

The DGFT also allowed exports of wheat or meslin flour, including atta, maida, semolina (rava/suji), wholemeal atta and resultant atta.

"The export policy of the above-mentioned products/items shall accordingly be 'Free' with immediate effect," the notifications said.

In February, the government had allowed limited shipments of wheat.
