Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani is the 9th richest person in the world, as per the Forbes 2024 list of global billionaires. The business magnate is also the only Indian to feature among the top 10 richest persons in the world.

Forbes, which has released the list along with a real-time net worth tracker on its website, showed Ambani’s total wealth standing at $115.6 billion on Thursday, April 4. He is the only Asian billionaire whose net worth has crossed the $100 billion mark.

Among Indian billionaires, Ambani is followed on the prestigious list by Adani Group chief Gautam Adani, who ranks 17th with an estimated net worth of $84 billion. Savitri Jindal, long recognised as the wealthiest Indian woman, is placed on the 45th position in the global list with an estimated net worth of $35.2 billion.

India is the third highest contributor to the Forbes list with 200 billionaires, whereas, China ranks second with 473 billionaires. The top spot is occupied by the United States, with a record 813 billionaires worth a combined net worth of $5.7 trillion.

In all, the list features 2,781 billionaires, 141 more than last year and 26 more than the record set in 2021. “They’re richer than ever, worth $14.2 trillion in aggregate, up by $2 trillion from 2023 and $1.1 trillion above the previous record, also set in 2021,” a release noted.
