Whether you are a salaried employee preparing to file your return, an employer deducting tax at source, or a business responsible for TDS and TCS compliance, July brings a packed tax calendar.

Several due dates are spread across the month, covering tax deposits, quarterly statements, statutory forms and the much-awaited ITR filing deadline.
In this article, we take a look at the important income tax deadlines lined up in July 2026.
July 7

The month's first major deadline falls on July 7. Tax deducted at source (TDS) and tax collected at source (TCS) for June 2026 must be deposited by this date. The deadline also covers quarterly TDS deposits in specified cases and uploading prescribed declarations received during June.

The same date is also important for entities required to deposit Securities Transaction Tax (STT) and Commodities Transaction Tax (CTT) collected during June.

July 15

The next important date is July 15, when several quarterly reporting requirements come due. These include prescribed TDS certificates, statements relating to remittances, stock exchange transactions and certain reports involving non-residents and specified financial institutions.

July 30

Businesses and other deductors required to file the prescribed challan-cum-statement for tax deducted during June must do so by July 30.

July 31

For most individual taxpayers, July 31 is the biggest date on the calendar. It is the due date for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the Assessment Year 2026-27 for taxpayers whose accounts are not required to be audited.

The deadline also coincides with the due date for several tax forms and declarations, including Form 10BA for those claiming deduction on house rent under Section 80GG, Form 10E for taxpayers claiming relief on salary received in arrears, and multiple quarterly TDS and TCS statements.

Even if your only tax obligation this month is filing an ITR, it's worth starting early. Before submitting your return, cross-check your income details with Form 26AS, the Annual Information Statement (AIS) and the Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) to ensure there are no mismatches. Keeping documents such as Form 16, bank interest certificates, capital gains statements and investment proofs ready in advance can make the filing process much smoother.
