The SBI changes come shortly after Canara Bank revised its ATM and cash recycler charges from September 1. Canara Bank reduced the number of free monthly transactions for regular savings account customers at its ATMs from six to five, while charges were also revised for cash withdrawals beyond the free limit.

SBI Salary Package Account ATM rules

SBI Salary Package Account holders currently get 10 free transactions every month when they use their SBI debit card at other banks' ATMs and ADWMs.

From October 1, the number of free transactions will be reduced to five per month.

The five free transactions will include both financial and non-financial transactions and will be applicable at all centres.

After the free monthly transactions are used, the existing charges will apply. Cash withdrawals will attract a charge of ₹23 + GST per transaction, while non-financial transactions will cost ₹11 + GST per transaction.

No change in these charges

The revision applies to Salary Package Accounts across all variants. For account holders other than Salary Package Accounts, the number of monthly free transactions and applicable service charges will remain unchanged.

The existing free transaction limit and charges for SBI debit card holders using SBI ATMs and ADWMs will also remain unchanged.

BSBD account cash withdrawal charges

Under the revised charges, the first four cash withdrawals in a month will remain free. These include cash withdrawals made through SBI ATMs, other bank ATMs, branches and AEPS cash transactions.

From the fifth cash withdrawal onwards, a charge of ₹15 + GST per transaction will apply.

The BSBD account is a basic savings account designed mainly for people from the poorer sections of society. There is no minimum balance requirement, while there is also no upper limit on the balance that can be maintained.

The account can be opened by any individual with valid KYC documents and is available at all SBI branches.

One important condition for BSBD account holders A customer with a BSBD account cannot have another savings bank account.

If a customer already has a savings bank account, it has to be closed within 30 days of opening the BSBD account.

The account does not come with a cheque book facility. Customers can withdraw money through the withdrawal form at a branch or through an ATM.

A basic RuPay ATM-cum-debit card is issued to the account holder free of cost, with no annual maintenance charge.

Cardless cash withdrawals remain free

There is no change in the charges for cardless cash withdrawal transactions at SBI ATMs/ADWMs or other banks' ATMs/ADWMs.

Unlimited free transactions will continue until further notice.

SBI customers should keep these changes in mind when using ATMs or making cash withdrawals from October 1, 2026.
