Data source: Ace MF, ranking based on returns up to June 16, 2026
Only one fund is ranking 1 across four periods and still stays in top 10 over 5 years. The no. 1 fund over 5 years is currently ranked last in the 6-month duration. Two of the top-4 funds over 5 years are currently bottom-quartile performers.
Data shows that recent market conditions are punishing the strategies that previously worked and rewarding new ones.
The no.1 and no.4 funds over 5 years both rank in the bottom 10% over 6 months duration, indicating if an investor uses 5-year rankings alone to pick schemes, bad markets or poor stock picks can make them worst recent performers.
There are only three schemes that are maintaining a top-10 ranking at both the 3 month and 5 year periods simultaneously.
A few funds with strong 5-year pedigrees have quietly slipped in recent periods in terms of ranking by performance. Some schemes are consistent in under-performing. For instance, one fund ranks 27th at 3 month, 27th at 6 month, 27th at 1 year, and 28th at 3 year. Another scheme ranks 33rd at 3 month, 31st at 6 month, 29th at 1 year, 29th at 3 year, and 25th at 5 year. It is the only scheme in the above table with no single period where it rises above the bottom quartile.
Interestingly, the short-term and long-term leaderboards of top three schemes show almost no overlap. Of the top 5 funds ranked over 5 years, not a single one appears in the top 5 over 3 months. Three of the top 5 funds at 3 months have no 5-year track record.
