The UMANG app is a one-stop platform that integrates major government services and allows users to access various central and state e-governance services under one roof.
It was launched under the Digital India initiative, providing people with convenient, digital access to a slew of services, including paying utility bills, checking EPF balance, accessing government services, planning train journeys and Aadhaar & PAN services. Let's look at everything you can do on the UMANG app that can make things easier for you.
Every year, pensioners have to submit a Jeevan Pramaan (Life Certificate), which is a declaration that they’re alive, to continue receiving their pension.
Earlier, pensioners had to do this physically by visiting the bank or the pension office. Now, it can be done online too through apps and biometric verification. The UMANG app also allows pensioners to generate a digital life certificate through their smartphones.
Under the services, users can select ‘generate life certificate’, enter their details and generate their certificates.
UMANG offers several EPFO services on its platform, including checking PF balance, activating UAN, viewing passbook, raising claims, downloading scheme certificates, etc.
On the app, users can search for ‘EPFO’ under services and pick the service they need. They can also register grievances on the app.
Users can apply for a new PAN card or make corrections to an existing PAN on the UMANG platform. Under the My PAN section, you can submit an application for a new PAN card after doing e-KYC with Aadhaar.
UMANG is integrated with DigiLocker, so you can access all your important government documents, including Aadhaar, driving license, PAN, EPFO documents, etc., on the app. You can find the documents under the Documents tab on the app.
Through Bharat BillPay System (BBPS), you can pay utility bills like electricity, water, DTH, telecom, etc. on the UMANG app. Go to Utility Services and pick the type of bill you need to pay.
Under the Schemes section, users can explore and apply for various central/state government schemes if they’re eligible for them. On the app, you can check your eligibility, read scheme details, benefits and check the required documents for the scheme. You can also apply for the scheme.
Many schemes like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Assistance for Purchase of Aids/Appliances, Post Office Monthly Income Scheme, etc., are available on the app.
Users can check train schedules, live status and other things to plan their train journeys. While you can’t book train tickets yet, you can get all the information and plan your trips accordingly.
You can also get information regarding the metro, like the Delhi Metro, on the app. Users can check fares, routes, parking facilities, plan journeys and access other metro-related information on the platform.
Other than EPFO, users can also access National Pension System (NPS) account details on the UMANG app under the Pension (or Social Security) section. Users can also access services related to the Atal Pension Yojana, like checking account statements and e-PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number).
Users can do so much more on the UMANG app, like paying income taxes, finding jobs, booking health appointments, enrolling in educational courses, checking exam results, finding legal aid, submitting complaints and other community services.
The UMANG app is aimed at making government services more accessible to citizens with a wide range of government services and many integrated channels. Users can submit grievances and feedback to the government on the UMANG app, providing inputs for improving services.
