Life certificate submission: A life certificate is a declaration that a pensioner is alive, submitted once a year to continue receiving a pension. Traditionally, pensioners had to visit their bank or pension office physically to submit this certificate.
Life certificates can be submitted online or offline. Online methods allow pensioners to submit their Life Certificates digitally from home using apps or biometric verification. Offline methods involve physical submission through bank branches, post offices, or doorstep services.

Enables submission through facial recognition using a mobile app.
Pensioners can submit their Life Certificate via secure video calls.

Digital life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners
⦁ The system uses your Aadhaar number for fingerprint or iris scan authentication.
⦁ Once verified, a digital life certificate is created and stored online in a secure repository.
⦁ Pension disbursing agencies (banks, etc.) can view and download your certificate from the Jeevan Pramaan website.

⦁ Download the Jeevan Pramaan app on your PC/mobile/tablet
⦁ Or visit the nearest Jeevan Pramaan Centre (banks, CSCs, govt offices)
⦁ Enter your details: Aadhaar number, Pension Payment Order (PPO, bank name, account number, and mobile number
⦁ Biometric authentication: Use your fingerprint or iris scan to verify identity.
⦁ Get certificate & ID: After successful authentication, you will get an SMS confirmation with your Jeevan Pramaan ID.
⦁ Download your digital certificate: Go to jeevanpramaan.gov.in and download your certificate using the Jeevan Pramaan ID.
The submission window for the annual Life Certificate depends on the pensioner's age.
⦁ Super Senior Citizens (aged 80 and above) can submit their certificate starting October 1 each year.
For all pensioners, regardless of age, the final submission deadline is November 30. This staggered approach, allowing those aged 80 and above to submit earlier, was first introduced by the Central government in 2019 to ease the process for older citizens.
