Under Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar, women beneficiaries will receive ₹10,000 as an initial grant, with a possibility of an additional financial support of up to ₹2 lakh in subsequent phases.
More than 1.1 crore beneficiaries in Bihar have been selected for this scheme.
The third tranche of ₹10,000 under Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana was credited into the bank accounts of eligible women entrepreneurs on Monday, October 6.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transferred ₹10,000 to 21 lakh women beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on Monday, marking the third phase of fund transfer to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
The scheme is aimed at promoting women's empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities by offering ₹10,000 as financial assistance directly to women entrepreneurs.
The scheme was launched on September 26 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi through video conferencing. During the launch programme, ₹10,000 was transferred to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in Bihar, amounting to ₹7,500 crore.
Over 1.1 crore beneficiaries in Bihar have been selected for this scheme. The launch of the scheme is significant considering the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
“The scheme, an initiative of the Government of Bihar, is aimed at making women Aatmanirbhar and promoting women’s empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. It will provide financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state, enabling them to start employment or livelihood activities of their choice, thereby fostering economic independence and social empowerment,” a release by the Prime Minister’s Office said on September 25.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive ₹10,000 as an initial grant, with a possibility of an additional financial support of up to ₹2 lakh in subsequent phases. The financial assistance can be used in areas of choice, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving and other small-scale enterprises.
The scheme is being implemented with the help of self-help groups.
“The scheme will be community-driven, in which, along with financial support, community resource persons connected to Self Help Groups will provide training to support their endeavour. To support the sale of their produce, Gramin Haat-Bazaars will be further developed in the State,” the PMO said in the release.
The next phases, or tranches, will be carried out on these days:
Women who are associated with a self-help group and whose names are on the BPL (Below Poverty Line) list are eligible to receive money under this scheme.
To ensure that they receive the financial assistance under the scheme, beneficiaries must have an active bank account and updated e-KYC. Additionally, incorrect personal details or incomplete KYC can cause delays in the processing.
