India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) is set to bring doorstep digital life certificate services to EPFO pensioners through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), officials said on Monday.
This collaboration will allow pensioners to complete their annual verification from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need to visit EPFO offices or bank branches and making the process faster, easier, and more convenient.
Under this collaboration, IPPB will utilise its extensive network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh postal service providers (Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks) equipped with doorstep banking devices.
The MoU was exchanged between IPPB MD and CEO R. Viswesvaran and EPFO Central Provident Fund Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurthi during the 73rd Foundation Day of EPFO.
The Digital Life Certificate allows pensioners to complete annual verification online, removing the need for physical visits to bank branches or EPFO offices and eliminating paper-based submissions.
IPPB first introduced doorstep DLC services in 2020 to generate Jeevan Pramaan certificates using Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication, significantly reducing the time taken for issuance.
“This partnership with EPFO reinforces IPPB’s mission to bring essential financial and citizen services to every doorstep in India. With our technology-enabled postal network and trusted last-mile reach, EPFO pensioners, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, will now be able to complete their life certificate submission seamlessly, with dignity and convenience,” Viswesvaran said.
To avail of the service, EPFO pensioners can contact their postman or Gramin Dak Sevak or visit the nearest post office. They will need to provide their Aadhaar number and pension details for Aadhaar-linked face authentication or fingerprint biometric authentication, the statement added.
1)Pensioners can submit their Digital Life Certificate from home without visiting banks or EPFO offices.
2)EPFO will cover the full cost, ensuring the service is provided at no charge.
3)The digital process shortens verification turnaround time and reduces paperwork.
4)The service especially benefits elderly pensioners in rural and semi-urban areas, reaching them through the trusted postal network.
5)Technology-enabled authentication allows pensioners to complete verification securely, easily, and respectfully at their doorstep.
