What did the Labour Ministry say?

In a post on X on September 7, 2026, the Ministry of Labour and Employment said Aadhaar authentication is mandatory for ESIC beneficiaries under Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020.

The Ministry advised beneficiaries to seed their Aadhaar Card with their ESIC Pehchan Card and directed them to the official ESIC website for more information.

How to link Aadhaar with ESIC Pehchan Card?

Beneficiaries should follow the Aadhaar-seeding process provided by ESIC. In brief:

  • Log in to the official ESIC portal using your insured-person credentials.

  • Select the Aadhaar-seeding option available in the insured person's account and provide the required Aadhaar details.

  • Complete Aadhaar authentication through the method prescribed by ESIC and retain any acknowledgement or reference details provided.

What does Section 142 say?

Section 142 of the Code on Social Security deals with Aadhaar-based identification. It requires eligible persons to establish their identity through Aadhaar for registration and for accessing specified social-security benefits and services.

The provision also covers receiving payments or medical attendance as an insured person or for eligible dependants.

What should ESIC beneficiaries do?

ESIC beneficiaries should check whether their Aadhaar has been seeded with their ESIC record and complete the authentication process as prescribed by ESIC.

Beneficiaries should use only the official ESIC portal and authorised channels for Aadhaar-related services. They should also avoid sharing Aadhaar details with unauthorised persons or websites.

The Ministry's September 7 post does not mention any separate deadline for completing the process. Therefore, beneficiaries should rely on official ESIC communications for any future deadline or procedural changes.
