How can mAadhaar users switch to the new Aadhaar app?

The UIDAI is phasing out the mAadhaar app, replacing it with the new Aadhaar app, which is built to offer a seamless and secure digital experience to users. With enhanced functionality and improved interface, users can explore the next generation of aadhaar services on the new app.

So, if you have been using the mAadhaar app, here is the step-by-step process to switch to the new app-

1. Download the official Aadhaar app from Google or Apple Play Store. For security reasons, you can also download the app from the link shared in the UIDAI’s official post.
2. After the app is downloaded, it will ask for a few permissions for smooth and safe access.
3. Now, you need to register on the new app in just 3 steps. First and foremost, you need to provide your 12-digit aadhaar number.
4. Then, in the next step, you need to select the SIM in case your device has two SIMs for SMS verification
5. In the last step, authenticate your identity using face scan.

Post the registration, you need to also set a 6-digit numeric password for extra security.

Developed by UIDAI, the new Aadhaar app is a major upgrade for managing digital identity, prioritizing security, privacy, and offline usability. It does away with the need for physical photocopies and enables users to easily update information, manage profiles, and utilise QR codes for fast and secure identity verification.
