EPFO expects portal services to resume from July 2; claims, passbook remain unavailable

Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) subscribers waiting to file claims or access other online services will have to wait a little longer. In a fresh notice, EPFO said that the submission and processing of claims through its portal will remain unavailable till 11:59 pm on July 1, with services expected to be fully restored from 00:00 hrs on July 2.

Fresh EPFO notice extends service disruption

In its latest notice displayed on the EPFO portal and the UMANG app, the retirement fund body said it is undertaking a planned database consolidation and upgradation of software applications for the claims processing system.

According to the notice, the submission and processing of claims through the EPFO portal will remain temporarily unavailable from 00:00 hrs on June 26, 2026, to 23:59 hrs on July 1, 2026.

EPFO said the technology upgrade is aimed at enhancing service delivery, improving processing efficiency and providing a better user experience.

Which EPFO services are affected?

During the migration period, the following services will remain unavailable:

  • Submission of new EPF claim requests

  • Processing of online claims

  • Claim-related services through the EPFO portal

  • Several EPFO services on the UMANG app

EPFO clarified that claims already submitted before the migration period will be taken up for processing once services resume.

When will EPFO services resume?

As per the latest official notice, EPFO expects services to be fully restored by 00:00 hrs on July 2, 2026.

A check by on the UMANG app on Wednesday found that EPFO services were unavailable, with the app also displaying a message stating that services are expected to resume by July 2.

Timeline revised twice

The maintenance schedule has been revised more than once.

Initially, EPFO had announced a three-day maintenance window from June 26 to June 28, with services expected to resume on June 29. Subsequently, the outage was extended till June 30, and members were informed that services would be restored from July 1.

The latest notice has now extended the disruption by another day, with services expected to resume on July 2.

Why is EPFO upgrading its system?

EPFO said the database consolidation and software upgrade are part of its efforts to modernise the claims processing system and improve digital service delivery for millions of provident fund subscribers.

Important Notice: Scheduled System Migration and Temporary Service Unavailability

To enhance service delivery, improve processing efficiency, and provide a better user experience, EPFO is undertaking a planned database consolidation and upgradation of software applications for the claims processing system.

As part of this transition, submission and processing of claims through this portal will remain temporarily unavailable from 00:00 hrs on 26 June 2026 to 23:59 hrs on 01 July 2026.

During this period:

  • Submission of new claim requests will be temporarily unavailable.

  • Claim processing services will be temporarily unavailable.

  • Claims already submitted before the migration period will be taken up for processing after services resume.

We expect services to be fully restored by 00:00 hrs on 02 July 2026.
