Factors influencing silver price today

In the retail market, silver price surged on the back of softness in the US dollar, falling crude oil price from recent highs, and continued structural shortfall in the retail market.

Meanwhile, in the futures market on the MCX, mirroring trend overseas, silver July futures at around 2:30 pm traded with a cut of 0.9% or ₹2,466 at ₹2,71,799 per kg. The contract touched the day's low and high price of ₹2,69,717 and ₹2,73,196 per kg.

US silver futures traded with a even sharper cut of over 2% at $75.85 per ounce.

The white metal price showing heightened volatility recorded a fall today as amid continuing US-Iran crisis, rate-hike bets and inflation risks took centrestage.

Higher rates in the economy make metals such as gold and silver less appealing for the masses due to their inherent non interest-yielding feature.

Today's Augmont Bullion report noted that "silver has erased all gains built on AI-sector optimism and growing demand for metals used in data centre infrastructure."
