Why are gold and silver prices rising today?

The early gains in domestic precious metals come after gold prices moved higher in international trade on Thursday.

Spot gold rose around 0.8 per cent to about $4,630 per ounce, while investors continued to track concerns around currency debasement and the US budget deficit. Market participants are also watching developments around US monetary policy and comments expected from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh.

Movements in the US dollar and Treasury yields remain important factors for bullion prices, while expectations around interest rates can influence investor demand for gold and silver.

“Gold and silver prices are rising as the dollar index corrects and expectations of a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike ease. Recent US economic data has reduced concerns about further monetary tightening, putting downward pressure on bond yields. At the same time, strong investment demand and continued safe-haven buying are providing additional support to gold and silver prices,” said Anuj Gupta, SEBI-registered Research Analyst.

MCX prices are subject to change during market hours. Retail gold and silver rates can differ from exchange prices because of purity, taxes, local premiums and other charges. IBJA rates mentioned above are for August 26, 2026.
