Accenture Plc shares surge 6.7% on partnering with Anthropic AI

Accenture Plc shares jumped over 6% in the premarket trade on Monday after the company announced a partnership with Anthropic AI to build embedded evaluators at Anthropic. The shares closed 4.7% lower on Friday at $181 apiece on the NYSE, while the pre-market trades show the shares could open 6.5% higher at $193 apiece on Monday.

The company’s press release read, “Accenture and Anthropic today announced that they are partnering to establish a team of embedded evaluators to work alongside Anthropic’s internal teams and safety partners to evaluate and red-team models, conduct alignment assessments, and test model safeguards”

Accenture shares have dropped over 31% in 2026 on a YTD basis amid growing concerns over the traditional software and consulting business in the aftermath of Artificial Intelligence adoption at the enterprise level. The shares made a 52-week low of $118 apiece in June this year and bounced back over 70% in a period of three months.

The company’s press release further stated that it is expected to invest $1 billion over five years in AI safety. The company said that it will leverage its decades of investment in responsible AI and deep technical and safety expertise through its acquisition of Faculty.

“Faculty is a recognized expert in testing and evaluating models for some of the world’s leading AI labs and has extensive experience building complex AI systems that are safe and ethical by design”, said the press release.

Global AI leaders like Dario, Sam Altman and Elon Musk are alarmed about the risks of AI safety after OpenAI’s agent was found involved in a hacking incident at Hugging Face. Dario wrote an essay on AI safety and called for slowing down the pace of AI advancement and the launch of new models.

Anthropic’s partnership with Accenture is a step in the same direction toward making AI models safe and secure. Commenting on the development, Julie Sweet, chair and CEO of Accenture, said, “Safety requires both deep technical expertise and a clear understanding of how AI is used in the real world.

Embedded evaluation is an emerging area, and we look forward to partnering with Anthropic to help accelerate the development of embedded evaluators, which we see as an important part of the safety landscape going forward."
