The auto index, too, was trading with notable gains.
The S&P BSE AUTO INDEX index was trading at 52,427.08, up 126.22 points, or 0.24%.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹1,782.71 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data.
In the early trade, the stock rose as much as 9.7% to ₹763.7 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). At 9:37 a.m., it was trading at ₹744.5, up 6.95%.
In an exchange filing on Wednesday, the company said operations at the Bilaspur plant, situated at 34-40, Sector B, Sirgitti Industrial Area in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur, have resumed.
The BSE SmallCap index was trading at 55,855.13, up 105.07 points, or 0.19%, while the BSE MidCap index was trading at 46,716.38, down 41.17 points, or 0.09%.
Asian stocks began the year on a gloomy note on Thursday as they struggled for traction after a jittery close to 2024, while the US dollar charged higher and investor sentiment stayed cautious ahead of Donald Trump's return to the White House.
Chinese stocks fell at the open, with the CSI300 blue-chip index last down 1.43% while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 1%.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slid 1.74%.
