As many as 80 securities hit their 52-week high on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on Wednesday, December 11, amid muted sentiment in the broader equity markets.

As of 11:26 am, the NIFTY 50 index was trading at 24,653.3, up 43.25 points, or 0.18%. The BSE SENSEX, meanwhile, was trading at 81,622.97, up 112.92 points, or 0.14%.

The volatility index, or India VIX, was trading flat at 14.18. The sectoral indices were trading with mild gains and losses, with the Nifty Metal being the biggest gainer (up 0.7%) and the Nifty Bank being the biggest loser (down 0.2%).

Here’s a look at three major stocks that touched their 52-week highs on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Vedanta Ltd (52-week high: ₹525)

Vedanta Ltd shares jumped almost 5% on Wednesday to hit their 52-week high of ₹525 apiece on the NSE. The stock has gained almost 11% in the past five trading sessions and 110% in the past one year. Notably, the stock price has doubled in calendar year 2024 after giving negative returns in the previous two years 2022 and 2023.

The stock has been rising for the past couple of sessions after Vedanta group chairman Anil Agarwal announced earlier this week that the company will invest a sum of ₹1 lakh crore in Rajasthan over the next few years. The company announced its plans to establish the world’s first industrial Zinc Park in Rajasthan.

Bajaj Holdings and Investment Ltd (52-week high: ₹11,545.90)

Shares of Bajaj Holdings and Investment Ltd, the Bajaj Group’s holding company, rose as much as 3% on Wednesday to hit their 52-week high of ₹11,545.9 apiece. The stock has jumped a cumulative 5% in the past two sessions as well and is up over 43% in the past one year.

Recently, late November, Bajaj Holdings and Investment had announced that it had picked up ₹29 crore worth of shares in three companies -- Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), Mphasis Ltd and Bharti Airtel Ltd.

Bajaj Holdings and Investment Ltd operates as an investment company. It holds strategic stakes of 33.43% in Bajaj Auto Ltd, 39.29% in Bajaj Finserv Ltd and 51% in Maharashtra Scooters Ltd (MSL).

Kaynes Technology India Ltd (52-week high: ₹6,502)

Shares of Mysore-based Kaynes Technology India Ltd, an end-to-end IoT-enabled integrated electronics manufacturing solutions provider, gained over 2% in trade on Wednesday to hit their 52-week high of ₹6,502 apiece. The stock has jumped over 15% in the past one month and a whopping 173% in the past one year.

The company had recently announced that it was setting its sights on listing its semiconductor subsidiary, Kaynes Semicon, in the next five years. Also, last week, Kaynes Technology’s wholly owned subsidiary Kaynes Holding Pte Ltd had acquired a 54% stake in Sensonic GmbH, Austria by way of subscription of shares.
