The Indian equity benchmarks staged a strong recovery from intraday low levels in noon deals on Tuesday, September 1. The SENSEX rose as much as 467 points from the day's lowest level and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,143 after touching an intraday low of 24,009 powered by gains in index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, ITC, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCL Technologies and HDFC Bank.

As of 12:11 pm, the SENSEX was up 269 points at 77,226 and NIFTY50 index advanced 49 points to 24,128.

Here are stocks witnessing heavier than usual trading activity:
Vardhman Textiles: Shares of the textile products maker rose as much as 12% to hit an intraday high of ₹637.85 amid spike in volumes.

Trading volume on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) jumped by 91.7 times to 1.82 crore shares compared with an average volume of 1.98 lakh shares.

As many as 11.78 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 11,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Engineers India: Shares of the civil construction company advanced 10.59% to an intraday high of ₹289.60 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume on the NSE jumped by 12.4 times to 3.98 crore shares compared with an average volume of 32.18 lakh shares.

On the BSE, a total of 20.39 lakh shares exchanged hands compared with two-week average of 2.4 lakh shares.

**Caplin Points Laboratories:**Shares of the drug maker advanced 9.35% to an intraday high of ₹2,752 mirroring gains in other pharma companies.

Trading volume in the stock jumped by 11 times to 6.27 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 58,145 shares on the NSE.

As many as 36,000 shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 18,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Godrej Agrovet: Shares of the animal feed maker advanced 13% to hit an intraday high of ₹696 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume on the NSE jumped by 9.2 times to 85.67 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 9.33 lakh shares.

On the BSE, a total of 4.08 lakh shares were traded compared with its two-week average volume of 36,000 shares.

Graphite India: Shares of the country's leading graphite electrodes maker jumped as much as 7.45% to an intraday high of ₹755.

Trading volume on the NSE spiked by 6.8 times to 51.16 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 7.49 lakh shares.

As many as 3.34 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 59,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
