Top Gainers and Losers: Bajaj Auto, Coal India and Bharti Airtel emerge top NIFTY movers as key indices close flat
Benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY closed flat on Friday, August 23. NIFTY50 closed higher by 11.55 points, or 0.05%, at 24,823. The key index moved in a range of 24,771.65 to 24,858.4 during the day. On the other hand, SENSEX closed higher by 33 points, or 0.04%, at 81,086.
The NIFTY Auto index was the top sectoral gainer, rising by 1.8%. Among all sectoral indices, the NIFTY Realty index declined the most by 2.43%. NIFTY Media and NIFTY IT also declined, up to 1.29%.
Telecom services provider Bharti Airtel’s stock closed 1.59% higher at ₹1,510 apiece on the NSE.
Automobile manufacturer Tata Motors was also among the top NIFTY gainers. The stock closed 1.58% higher at ₹1,085.35 apiece after touching an intraday high of ₹1,092.6 apiece.
Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv were the other gainers among NIFTY constituents, closing higher by up to 1.39%.
Shares of ONGC dropped more than 2% to a low of ₹317.55 in day trade. The stock closed at ₹318.6 apiece, down 1.01%.
Asian Paints shares dropped up to 1.18% to hit an intraday low of ₹3148.75 apiece on the NSE. The stock closed at ₹3,186.6, down 0.99%.
Among other NIFTY drags, Titan, Divis Laboratories, Britannia and Tata Consumer dropped as much as 0.93%.
