Top gainers and losers, September 9: Infosys rallies 5%, Dr Reddy's Labs, Wipro rise over 2.8%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks rose for a second straight session on Tuesday, September 9, powered by gains in information technology (IT) shares. The SENSEX rose as much as 394 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,892 led by buying interest in Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, Adani Ports and ITC.

The SENSEX ended 314 points higher at 81,101 and NIFTY50 index advanced 97 points to 24,871.

NIFTY50 gainers and losers

Infosys was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 4.85% to close at ₹1,502.40 after the company post market hours on Monday said that its board will meet on Thursday, September 11, to consider share buyback proposal. If approved it will be the company's fifth stock repurchase programme.

Dr Reddy's Labs (3.5%), Wipro (2.81%), Adani Ports (2.54%) and Tech Mahindra (2.45%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, Trent was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 1.74% to close at ₹5,223. Eternal (-1.2%), Ultratech Cement (-0.81%), Jio Financial Services (-0.80%) and IndusInd Bank (-0.63%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index rose 0.18% or 103 points to close at 57,464. As many as 54 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended higher while 44 closed lower.

Tata Communications was top gainer, in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 4.05% to close at ₹1,610.

Glenmark (3.11%), TI India (2.85%), Waaree Energies (2.57%) and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (2.46%) were also among the gainers.

On the other hand, Supreme Industries (-3.41%), Paytm (-2.94%), Nykaa (-2.54%), Indraprastha Gas (-1.94%) and Sona Comstar (-1.91%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 0.34% or 60 points to close at 17,744. As many as 51 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index while 47 ended higher.

Affle India was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 7% to close at ₹2,077. Action Construction Equipment (6.39%), RailTel (5.91%), Titagarh Rail Systems (4.91%) and Amber Enterprises (4.68%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Delhivery (-2.28%), Chambal Fertilisers (-2.27%), Credit Access Graameen (-1.89%), Shyam Metaliks (-1.84%) and Anant Raj Industries (-1.80%) were also among the laggards.
