Top gainers and losers, September 23: Bajaj Finance, Hindalco jump 3%, HCLTech, Titan fall 1%; check list

The SENSEX soared as much as 0.6% to hit an intraday high of 74,973.74. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 gained as much as 0.6% to touch the session’s peak of 23,466.90.

On September 23, the 30-share BSE SENSEX rose by 299.17 points or 0.40% to close at 74,828.25, while the 50-share NSE NIFTY ended higher by 0.50% or 117.80 points at 23,446.80.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The top gainers in the index included Bajaj Finance (3.41%), Hindalco Industries (3.17%), Tata Steel (3.16%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (2.64%) and JSW Steel (2.43%).

Shares of Tata Steel and JSW Steel, among other metal stocks, surged as investors focused on copper prices hitting a fresh all-time high.

Data showed that Copper futures in the US touched an all-time high of $6.92 per pound, rising around 4.6% in the last five market sessions amid persistent demand, production, and supply chain disruptions in the market.

On the other hand, HCL Technologies (-1.08%), Titan Company (-0.98%), Infosys (-0.86%), Coal India (-0.81%) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (-0.73%) were among the top losers on Wednesday.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge jumped by 0.70% or 433.30 points to close at 62,396.45 on September 23.

The index was supported by Steel Authority of India (6.57%), PB Fintech (4.50%), Motilal Oswal Financial Services (3.53%), Radico Khaitan (3.44%) and Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) (3.41%), which were among the winners.

On the flip side, the top laggards were Persistent Systems (-2.35%), One 97 Communications (Paytm) (-2.17%), Swiggy (-1.95%), Jubilant Foodworks (-1.59%) and Lupin (-1.51%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose by 0.89% or 176.05 points to end at 19,991.50.

The top gainers included Whirlpool of India (20%), Ola Electric Mobility (10.69%), Wockhardt (6.75%), IFCI (5.28%) and Five-Star Business Finance (4.41%).

On the contrary, Pine Labs (-4.29%), Inox Wind (-3.70%), Devyani International (-3.26%), Redington (-3.02%) and Ather Energy (-2.88%) were among the top losers.
