Top gainers and losers, Sept 30: Apollo Hospitals falls 6%, Max Healthcare down 3%, Kotak Mahindra Bank rises 3%

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in negative territory on Wednesday, September 30, amid FII outflow, rising US bond yields, and a sell-off in healthcare and pharma stocks.

On Tuesday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹9,980.22 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹6,952.71 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.

On September 30, the SENSEX declined by 48.78 points or 0.07% to close at 72,480.29. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 fell by 95.75 points or 0.42% to end at 22,620.45.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise dragged the NIFTY50 index, closing 5.70% lower.

It was followed by Max Healthcare Institute (-5.33%), BSE Ltd (-3.38%), Nestle India (-2.65%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (-2.60%), which were among the top losers on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the top gainers in the NIFTY50 index included Kotak Mahindra Bank (2.71%), InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) (2.30%), ICICI Bank (2.28%), UltraTech Cement (1.17%) and Shriram Finance (1.15%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge rose by 0.02% or 12.65 points to end at 59,332.05 on September 30.

The top winners in the index included ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company (4.95%), Prestige Estates Projects (4.54%), IndusInd Bank (2.67%), Lodha Developers (2.57%) and IDFC First Bank (2.49%).

Shares of Prestige Estates Projects jumped as its hospitality unit raised ₹3,000 crore from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) by diluting a 27% stake. According to a regulatory filing, CPPIB will acquire approximately a 27% stake in Prestige Hospitality Ventures Limited (PHVL) with the investment.

On the flip side, Fortis Healthcare (-6.33%), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (-4.37%), ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company (-3.68%), LIC Housing Finance (-3.34%) and Cochin Shipyard (-3.26%) were among the top losers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced by 0.27% or 52.15 points to close at 19,245.70.

Its top gainers included Cupid (8.23%), Aegis Logistics (6.17%), Syrma SGS Technology (5.49%), Sterlite Technologies (5%) and Mtar Technologies (5%).

On the contrary, Urban Company (-4.40%), Onesource Specialty Pharma (-4.31%), Welspun Corp (-4.27%), Vedanta Power (-4.23%) and KPIT Technologies (3.96%) were among the top losers.
