Top gainers and losers, Sept 10: HDFC LIC, Power Grid jump 2%, HCL Tech declines 2%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY50 closed in positive territory, snapping a three-day losing streak, on Thursday, September 10, led by gains in financial services, media and CPSE stocks.

However, global crude oil prices continued to surge, with Brent crude oil prices crossing the $102 per barrel (bbl) mark as tensions in West Asia escalated after the US destroyed five Iranian tankers on Tuesday in a series of attacks between the two nations.

On September 10, both the benchmark indices closed at their respective intraday highs. The SENSEX soared 138.37 points or 0.19% to end at 74,902.59, while the NIFTY50 closed higher by 46.30 points or 0.20% at 23,477.80.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The top gainers in the index included HDFC Life Insurance Company (2.36%), Power Grid Corporation of India (2.22%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) (1.39%), Bharti Airtel (1.34%) and Tech Mahindra (1.18%).

On the contrary, the top losers were HCL Technologies (-1.85%), Hindalco Industries (-1.26%), Tata Steel (-1.04%), Adani Enterprises (-0.89%) and Tata Motors PV (-0.83%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NSE Midcap gauge ended at 62,357.35, marking a 235.45-point or 0.38% decline.

It was weighed down by Vodafone Idea (-3.99%), GE Vernova T&D India (-2.74%), Suzlon Energy (-2.71%), Dixon Technologies (-2.49%) and Cochin Shipyard (-2.29%), which were among the top laggards.

On the flip side, Tata Investment Corporation (4.59%), Blue Star (3.92%), Exide Industries (2.29%), Persistent Systems (1.67%) and Dabur India (-1.32%) were among the top winners.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap index fell by 14.95 points or 0.07% to close at 20,021.95.

Its top losers included Sai Life Sciences (-5.01%), Afcons Infrastructure (-4.32%), IFCI Ltd (-4.23%), Urban Company (-3.91%) and BEML Ltd (-3.28%).

On the other hand, the top gainers were Swan Corp (6.59%), Welspun Corp (6.08%), Ather Energy (4.96%), KEC International (4.91%) and Ola Electric Mobility (4.82%).

Shares of Ather Energy surged as investors focused on a positive outlook from global brokerages and the potential for the company’s latest launch, Konarc, to power growth momentum in the upcoming period.

Experts predict that the company’s new product offering, Konarc, can potentially power further growth amid key support from customer demand, higher oil prices, and favourable government policy measures due to India’s EV push.
