The Indian equity benchmarks snapped their two-day losing streak on Wednesday, October 15, on the back of strong global cues as expectations of a US Fed rate cut lifted sentiment and surpassed tensions over US-China trade tensions.

The SENSEX rose as much as 697 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 25,365. The SENSEX ended 575 points higher at 82,605 and NIFTY50 index advanced 178 points to close at 25,324.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Bajaj Finance was top gainer in the NIFOTY50 index, the stock rose 4.07% to close at ₹1,060.65. Nestle India (3.98%), Bajaj Finserv (3.14%), Trent (2.64%) and Asian Paints (2.54%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, Infosys was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 1.04% a day ahead of its earnings announcement.

Bajaj Auto (-0.96%), Tata Motors (-0.90%), Tech Mahindra (--0.89%) and Tata Consumer Products (-0.60%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index rose 1.11% or 646 points to close at 58,970. As many as 84 shares ended higher while 15 closed lower.

Persistent Systems was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock surged 7.25% to close at ₹5,725 after the mid-tier IT services company posted an 11% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in its consolidated net profit.

The firm clocked a profit of ₹471.47 crore in the September quarter of FY26, compared to ₹424.90 crore in the previous quarter, it said in a regulatory filing.

The technology company’s revenue from operations soared 7.4% QoQ to ₹3,580.72 crore during the quarter under review, as against 3,333.59 crore in the first quarter of FY26.

Vodafone Idea (5.14%), Prestige Estates (5.04%), ITC Hotels (3.77%) and AU Small Finance Bank (3.70%) were also among the gainers.

On the other hand, OFSS was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 1.9% to close at ₹ 8,780. PB Fintech (-1.86%), MRF (-1.57%), IndusInd Bank (-1.25%) and Aurobindo Pharma (-1.23%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 0.82% or 148 points to close at 18,088. As many as 69 shares ended higher while 31 closed lower.

CESC was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 5.24% to close at ₹176.20. Capri Global Capital (5.01%), Poonawalla Fincorp (5%), Ola Electric (5%) and Signature Global (4.63%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, BLS International (-4.94%), Cyient (-2.3%), Data Patterns (-2.17%), HBL Engineering (-2.14%) and Dr Lal Path Labs (-1.96%) were top losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
