Top gainers and losers on October 10: Cipla, State Bank of India, Maruti Suzuki; check full list

SUMMARY

Tata Communications was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock surged 9.45% to close at ₹1,857 on the back of heavier than usual trading volume. Trading volume on National Stock Exchange surged by 65 times to 1.45 crore shares compared with an average trading volume of 2.23 lakh shares.

The Indian equity benchmarks rose for a second straight session on Friday, October 10, led by gains in index heavyweights like State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, ITC and Reliance Industries. The SENSEX rose as much as 482 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 25,3301. The SENSEX ended 329 points higher at 82,501 and NIFTY50 index advanced 104 points to close at 25,285.

NIFTY50 gainers and losers

Cipla was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 3.63% to close at ₹1,568 after a CNBC TV18 report suggested that US senate passed the National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA).

The Biosecure Act aims to prohibit federal funding for Chinese biotech companies deemed as "biotechnology companies of concern.' The amended Biosecure Act prohibits the use of "biotechnology equipment or services" from any "biotechnology company of concern" (BCC) in Federal contracts, the report said.

State Bank of India (2.22%), Maruti Suzuki (1.88%), Bajaj Auto (1.51%) and Dr Reddy's Labs (1.44%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, Tata Steel was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 1.48% to close at ₹174 on account of profit booking.

TCS fell 1.1% after it reported Q2 earnings.

HDFC Life (-0.74%), JSW Steel (-0.63%) and Shriram Finance (-0.61%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index rose 0.46% or 268 points to close at 58,697. As many as 60 shares ended higher while 40 closed lower.

YES Bank (7.14%), Blue Star (2.94%) and Godrej Properties (2.83%) were also among the gainers.

On the other hand, SAIL was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 3.46% to close at ₹131.74. Tata Elxsi (-3.09%), Muthoot Finance (-2.6%), NALCO (-2.12%) and NMDC (-2.09%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 0.74% or 133 points to end at 18,133. As many as 60 shares ended higher while 40 closed lower.

Redington (7.09%), PG Electroplast (5.85%), Jyoti CNC (5.26%) and Neuland Labs (3.77%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Hindustan Copper (-5.51%), Manappuram Finance (-3.09%), PNB Housing Finance (-2.41%), GRSE (-2.17%) and Chambal Fertilisers (-1.69%) were losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
