Top gainers and losers on March 24: IndiGo, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Finance shares gain over 5%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks ended sharply higher on Tuesday, March 24, as investor sentiment turned positive after United States President Donald Trump said that United States will postpone “any and all” military strikes against Iranian power plants and infrastructures for a period of five days.

The SENSEX rose as much as 1,793 points and NIFTY50 index reclaimed its important psychological level of 23,050 led by gains in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eternal and Mahindra & Mahindra.

The SENSEX ended 1,372 points higher at 74,068 and NIFTY50 index advanced 400 points to close at 22,912.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

InterGlobe Aviation was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock advanced 5.5% to close at ₹4,162 as crude oil prices softened in the international markets.

In a separate development, global investment bank Jefferies in a note said that IndiGo’s summer schedule implies 6-7% annual growth in actual domestic departures, despite reported schedules being marginally lower.

Larsen & Toubro (5.17%), Bajaj Finance (4.97%), Eternal (4.89%) and Asian Paints (4.68%) were also among the top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

On the flipside, Coal India (-3%), Power Grid (-1.36%), Adani Enterprises (-0.43%), Sun Pharma (-0.32%) and Cipla (-0.15%) were notable laggards in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index jumped 2.6% or 1,369 points to close at 54,087. All but one share in the 100-member index ended higher.

Vishal Mega Mart was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 7.85% to close at ₹107.5.

Hindustan Petroleum (5.31%), Coromandel International (5.06%), GMR Airports (4.99%) and APL Apollo (4.81%) were also among gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

On the other hand, NTPC Green was the only loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced 2.63% or 397 points to settle at 15,495. As many as 93 shares ended higher while seven closed lower.

BLS International was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock jumped 14% to close at ₹253.

Capri Global Capital (7.13%), Swan Corp (6.53%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (5.68%) and Deepak Fertilisers (5.55%) were also among the top gainers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.

On the contrary, Castrol India (-1.8%), Go Digit Insurance (-1.31%), MRPL (-0.82%), Gillette India (-0.82%) and Ola Electric (-0.51%) were top losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
