The Indian equity benchmarks rose for second straight session on Wednesday, June 25, on the back of stable global cues after a ceasefire between Iran and Israel appeared to be holding on Wednesday. The SENSEX rose as much as 761 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 25,266.80 powered by gains in HDFC Bank, Infosys, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Consultancy Services. The SENSEX ended 700 points higher 82,755 and NIFTY50 index advanced 200 points to close at 25,245.
Titan was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 3.66% to close at ₹3,655 after Macquarie, in a note, said that it believes jewellery EBIT margin has bottomed out in FY25 and it expects 20% growth in jewellery sales in the first quarter of the current financial year.
Mahindra & Mahindra (2.16%), Grasim Industries (2.13%), Infosys (1.95%) and JSW Steel (1.75%) were also among the gainers.
On the flipside, Bharat Electronics (-2.92%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (-1.29%), Eicher Motors (-0.93%), ONGC (-0.87%) and Axis Bank (-0.84%) were among the losers.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index rose 0.44% or 259 points to close at 58,882. As many as 65 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended higher. Page Industries was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rise 4.28% to close at ₹48,250 after Goldman Sachs said that industry inventory levels have normalised after approximately two years of excess inventory, which should benefit the Indian apparel manufacturer going forward, Investing.com reported.
Vodafone Idea rose 4.08% after it denied reports suggesting that the government is considering relief on its dues worth ₹84,000 crore.
Kalyan Jewellers (3.65%), IREDA (3.51%) and Max Healthcare (3.34%) were also among the gainers.
On the other hand, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 3.25% mirroring losses in other defence shares.
Dixon Technologies (-2.63%), SBI Cards (-2.15%), SAIL (-1.84%) and Union Bank of India (-1.70%) were also among the losers.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 1.5% or 275 points to close at 18,727.85. As many as 76 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
Indiamart was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 6.77% to close at ₹2,664 on the back of heavy trading volumes. As many as 11.98 lakh shares changed hands on the National Stock Exchange against an average trading volume of 84,934 shares.
Welpsun Living (6.29%), PCBL (5.92%), MCX (5.59%) and Sonata Software (5.45%) were also among the gainers.
On the contrary, Garden Reach Shipbuilders was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 5.97% to close at ₹2,992. Data Patterns (-5.10%), Angel One (-3.68%), Aditya Birla Real Estate (-2.41%) and Zen Technologies (-2.12%) were also among the losers.
