Top gainers and losers on July 9: HCL Tech, Hindalco, Tata Steel fall over 1.7%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on Wednesday dragged down by losses in metal shares after President Donald Trump said he will announce a 50% tariff on copper on Tuesday, hoping to boost US production of the metal. The SENSEX fell as much as 330 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,424.35 amid weak global markets. The SENSEX ended 176 points lower at 83,536 and NIFTY50 index declined 46 points to close at 25,476.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

HCL Technologies was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.05% to close at ₹1,673 ahead of TCS Q1 earnings. Hindalco (-1.83%), Tata Steel (-1.71%), Apollo Hospitals (-1.51%) and Tech Mahindra (-1.41%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Shriram Finance was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 1.76% to close at ₹680.70.

Bajaj Finance (1.44%), Coal India (1.31%), Hindustan Unilever (1.20%) and Ultratech Cement (0.84%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.13% or 76 points to close at 59,340. As many as 55 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended higher while 45 closed lower.

Max Healthcare was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 3.84% to close at ₹1,246. Union Bank of India (-3.69%), Phoenix Mills (-3.28%), Hindustan Zinc (-2.50%) and Indraprastha Gas (-2.47%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Nykaa was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 5.13% to close at ₹212.99. MRF (3.96%), Mankind Pharma (3.73%), Concor (2.78%) and Premier Energies (2.28%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 0.59% or 112 points to close at 19,007. PG Electroplast was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 6.82% to close at ₹791. Swan Energy (5.33%), Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (5.30%), PCBL (4.60%) and Dr Lal Pathlabs (3.47%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Brigade Enterprises (-3.74%), Hindustan Copper (-3.36%), Manappuram Finance (-2.47%), Nuvama Wealth (-2.2%) and Aster DM Healthcare (-2%) were among laggards in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.
