Top gainers and losers on January 5: HDFC Bank, Wipro, Infosys shares decline over 2.2%; check full list

The NIFTY50 index snapped its three-day winning streak on Monday, January 5, as investors resorted to profit booking after the 50-share index touched its record high of 26,373.20. The NIFTY50 index dropped as much as 163 points from the day's highest level and SENSEX tumbled as much as 568 points from day's highest level to touch an intraday low of 85,315.33.

The SENSEX ended 322 points lower at 85,440 and NIFTY50 index declined 78 points to settle at 26,250.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

HDFC Bank was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.31% to close at ₹978.50. Wipro (-2.23%), Infosys (-2.21%), HCL Technologies (-2.15%) and ONGC (-1.41%) were also among the top losers in the NIFTY50 index.

On the flipside, Nestle India (2.76%), Bharat Electronics (2.53%), Eicher Motors (2.17%), Hindustan Unilever (1.6%) and Tata Steel (1.56%) were top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index declined 0.16% or 100 points to close at 61,266. As many as 59 shares ended lower while 41 closed higher.

Premier Energies was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 7% to close at ₹787 mirroring selloff in other renewable energy shares. Waaree Energies (-5.34%), M&M Financial Services (-4.95%), Cummins India (-4.04%) and Vodafone Idea (-3.31%)

On the other hand, Union Bank of India (3.78%), Prestige Estates (3.29%), Voltas (3.2%%), Godrej Properties (2.76%) and Bharat Dynamics (2.7%) were top gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced 0.53% or 94 points to close at 17,926. As many as 60 shares ended higher while 40 closed lower.

Ola Electric was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose for a third straight session. The stock ended 7.63% higher at ₹44. PG Electroplast (4.52%), Data Patterns (4.47%), Cyient (4.17%) and HBL Engineering (3.64%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Devyani International (-5.11%), Aegis Vopak Terminals (-2.8%), JBM Auto (-2.49%), NBCC (-2.46%) and Jupiter Wagons (-2.29%) were top losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
