Top gainers and losers on August 5: Adani Ports, Reliance Industries, Infosys shares fall over 1.38%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks ended lower after a day's pause in the previous session as sentiment took a knock after US President Donald Trump on Monday, August 4, said that he will "substantially" raise US tariffs on India, accusing it of buying massive amounts of Russian oil and selling it for big profits. The SENSEX fell as much as 464 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,590. The SENSEX ended 308 points lower at 80,710 and NIFTY50 index declined 73 points to close at 24,650.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Adani Ports was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 1.94% to close at ₹1,361.90 after it reported a net profit of ₹3,314.6 crore for the April-June quarter (Q1 FY26), marking an increase of 6.5% from ₹3,113 crore logged in the same period last year.

Its revenue from operations grew 31% to ₹9,126 crore in the June quarter, as against ₹6,956 crore registered in the year-ago period. The revenue growth was driven by momentum in the logistics and marine businesses.

Reliance Industries (-1.52%), Infosys (-1.38%), Adani Enterprises (-1.29%) and Cipla (-1.24%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Titan, IndusInd Bank, SBI Life, Maruti Suzuki and Coal India were among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.39% or 225 points to close at 57,206. As many as 64 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended lower while 36 ended higher.

BSE was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 4.73% to close at ₹2,369 after reports suggested that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) may soon introduce restrictions on weekly derivatives expiry.

The move is part of broader efforts to curb speculative trading activity in the options segment.

Biocon (-2.46%), Coforge (-2.40%), Paytm (-2.34%) and Premiere Energies (-2.19%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Solar Industries was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 4% to close at ₹14,940. BHEL (2.93%), Vishal Mega Mart (2.91%), Mazagon Dock Shipyards (2.90%) and NHPC (2.20%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 0.16% or 29 points to close at 17,865. As many as 65 shares in the index ended lower while 35 ended higher.

Triveni Turbine was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 8.78% to close at ₹538 after it reported net profit of ₹67 crore in June quarter as against ₹94 crore in the previous quarter.

Reliance Power (-5%), Welspun Living (-3.90%), Piramal Enterprises (-3.27%) and Aarti Industries (-3.08%) were also among the losers.

On the contrary, Newgen Software was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 12.08% to close at ₹935 on the back of heavier than usual trading volumes.

Godfrey Philips rose 10% to close at ₹9,881.50 after the cigarette maker reported robust June quarter earnings. The company’s board has also approved a bonus issue.

Godfrey Phillips on Monday posted a 55.9% year-on-year (YoY) growth in its consolidated net profit to ₹356 crore in the June quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q1FY26). In the same period a year ago, it had clocked a profit of ₹229 crore.

The tobacco manufacturer's revenue from operations surged 33.44% YoY to ₹1,486 crore in the first quarter of FY26, compared to ₹1,088 crore in the June FY25 quarter.

Chambal Fertilisers (7.37%), BLS International (3.56%) and Firstsource Solutions (3.49%) were also among the gainers.
